Indian Fry Bread
1 T. baking powder
1 t salt
1 c. milk
oil for frying
Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and add milk. Mix until the dough comes together. Add more flour to be able to handle the dough. Knead dough at least 5 minutes. I do it in my Kitchen Aid mixer. Let the dough rest about 5 minute before handling.
Heat about 4 cups oil in pan to 365*.
Break off about 3/4 cup of dough and make into a disc shape. Flatten with small rolling pin to about 1/4 " and fry until golden brown on both sides. Turn only once. Drain on paper towels.
We serve with honey, powdered sugar, or cinnamon sugar. Many people top with taco ingredients too. They taste very close to what you can get at street fairs in Arizona.
